Don't pick the flowers!!

“What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and wildness? Let them be left,
Oh let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.”

--Gerard Manley Hopkins
A hillside full of white trillium (here is was overflowing with flowers, yet one of the only places on the planet for this one...)

The Humpty Dumpty Bridge

I've heard this old one lane bridge in Green Hill, Rutherford County, North Carolina, is being replaced this spring. I drive over it often--it's possible to catch some air on the descent, that angle of roadway leading to the western bank of the Broad River. There aren't too many bridges like this's possible that this one is far enough out in the country to have "survived."
