Greybeard Mountain

A hike up Greybeard Mountain on a sunny spring day (yes, it's early spring) in Montreat. Some of the trail is based on an old timber industry railroad--the switchbacks have rock walls in places for reinforcement:
Moisture seeping down the mountain fosters plush mats of moss...
Rock tripe, in a drier area...
There are masses of galax everywhere, with postings about not picking it.
Our lunch spot (w/Burl and Don)
 An old, decaying chestnut stump...
The view facing south by southwest from an outlook (the rock I was standing on must have been at a slant, therefore the horizon is crooked...)
