yome and greenhouse



the "yome"--a yurt with a dome structure...

the solar panels run a fan that blows heated air from the greenhouse interior to pipes that are laid in the ground around the periphery of the greenhouse.



the water tank acts as a "thermal mass" or heat sink--keeping the greenhouse warm & moist on winter nights.

At the home of Meg and Michael Reim, here in Hendersonville--gracious enough to share their experience with Transition folks interested in their unique structures. I loved the passionflower vine growing around the inside of the dome greenhouse door...
